Konica Minolta and Color-Logic expand partnership to enable metallic label decoration for digital packaging applications

Konica Minolta has expanded its partnership with Color-Logic to integrate the Color-Logic metallic colour communication system with the AccurioLabel 400 digital label press, enabling label converters to produce metallic decorative effects for packaging applications without conventional foiling processes. The collaboration was announced by the companies as part of their continued efforts to broaden digital embellishment capabilities for the label and packaging sector.

The integration combines Konica Minolta’s fifth-colour white toner technology with Color-Logic software to allow converters to print metallic colours and design effects on silver label substrates in a single production workflow. The solution is intended for premium labels used across industries including food and beverage, cosmetics, personal care, pharmaceuticals and household products.

According to the companies, the system enables converters to reproduce a wide range of metallic shades and decorative finishes while reducing reliance on separate foiling or embellishment stages. The workflow is designed to support shorter production runs, customised label versions and faster turnaround times, reflecting growing demand for digital production in the packaging industry.

The partnership builds on an existing collaboration between the two companies and extends compatibility of Color-Logic’s print enhancement technology to users of the AccurioLabel 400 platform. The digital press, introduced for label production, incorporates white toner capability to support printing on transparent, coloured and metallic substrates.

For packaging converters, the development provides an additional option for producing premium label graphics through a digital process while simplifying production workflows. The capability may be particularly relevant for brands seeking decorative packaging effects for limited editions, seasonal promotions and personalised products without investing in conventional metallic finishing equipment.

The announcement reflects the continuing adoption of digital technologies that combine print production and decorative enhancement within a single workflow, offering greater production flexibility for label converters serving the packaging market.
